Academic Facilities

Government Brennen College is one of the oldest institution in the old Malabar district under Madras province during British rule. Originally it was established in Thalassery as English School in 1862. Later, 1959 is moved to Dharmadam to accommodate the status of College. Many developmental activities added new facilities of the college. In 2019, the Government approved the Centre of Excellence for Environment established and its infrastructure is gradually developing. Now it has a multidisciplinary lab facility with Quantstudio 3 Real Time PCR, seqstuio Automated DNA Sequencer, HPLC, CO2 incubator, Laminar Air flow. This laboratory provide services like PCR Amplification of genes, Sanger sequencing, microbe identification, DNA barcoding.

Government Brennen College has clean and well-furnished class rooms for teaching and learning. There are 71 class rooms, 15 laboratories, herbarium and museum are available in our college. The library is one of the best among college libraries in Northern Kerala. It accommodates rare books and micro films. Now it takes its own website page with online book and journal support.

Language lab in English department, Tissue culture lab botany department, PG lab in Chemistry department, Optics, electrical, computer, mechanical labs and electronics bench in Physics, labs with computer and softwares in Commerce Mathematics and Statistics departments. PotheraKunhambu Study Centre for innovative studies in regional culture at Malayalam department. Research Centres in English, Malayalam, Economics, Hindi, Botany, Physics, Philosophy, Sanskrit are notable idol for academic facilities.

Department of Physical education accommodate fitness facilities for students and staff and the number one in sports.

Co-operativeStore: A cooperative store is running in the college. It works under the guidelines of Cooperative Department. It supplies text books and stationery items to students and faculty members. It is also provided with Photostat machine.
