PHYSICAL EDUCATION



The Department started in the year 1890. Ever since its inception the department could make an impact into the health and fitness activities of the students apart from producing sports persons of repute and merit. Many of our students have participated and won medals at Olympics, International, National, State and University levels. The Department has an eminent list of students who have represented the country at various levels. The students are provided with optimum opportunities to get involved in competitive sports as well as health and fitness activities. The Department focuses to promote Health and Fitness of our students and staff through sports activities. Upholding the Glorious vision of overall student development, the Department provides facilities and motivation for every event that student finds interested. Exceptional talents are given adequate encouragement and coaching to emerge as winners in their chosen sports disciplines. Government Brennen College is the only one college in the government sector to receive the prestigious G.V.Raja award for the best college for sports activities in Kerala during the year 2016-17.During the academic year 2018-19 Brennen college was adjudged as the best college in women section under Kannur University and received Jimmy George Trophy for the year 2018-19.

The college through the Department of Physical Education has been attached to Sports Authority of India (SAI), Thalassery Centre with an MOU signed in 2003. An International standard 400 meter Synthetic Track with Football ground(grass) was constructed at the college land with the financial support of Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India Scheme (First phase 8.5 crore). The MOU in this regard has been signed on 18/09/2018.
